Architecture

A new urban village

Treating their role as stewards to this beloved piece of land, the enlightened team behind Selo have worked closely with Auckland Council to create a people-centred development that will sit seamlessly within its leafy environs and the wider community.

This 'micro neighbourhood' is laid out in small groups of terraces, creating attractive, people-friendly streets, with generous spaces carved out for communal life and the natural environment.

Well-considered architecture

The team from BDG Architects have conceived an architectural design for Selo where no two groups of terraces are the same, giving plenty of individuality to the neighbourhood.

The distinctiveness of these homes is balanced with consistent architectural detailing, lending a rhythmic harmony across the whole development.

Strings of pitched roofs and the varying scales of the terraces combine with a blend of no less than seven complementary palettes of brick and painted weatherboard profile to provide contrast across the adjoining facades of the individual townhouses.

So meticulous in the details, BDG went as far as to commission a custom paint colour from Dulux to get just the right shade of cinnamon brown to perfectly complement the brickwork. Finer architectural flourishes, such as projecting window reveals and contrast detailing, combine with quality materials and thoughtful landscaping to deliver unique townhouses that residents will be proud to call home.

The finer things

Clean lines and organic textures combine with touches of luxury to create a refined aesthetic with minimal fuss and maximum comfort.

Carefully curated by Interior Designer Juliet Lloyd, the colour palette and materials selected for the interior design of your new home will provide a neutral backdrop to complement your personal style.

Landscape Design

A green haven

From the road frontage to the seclusion of your backyard, Selo's extensive landscaping will reside harmoniously within its environment and the wider neighbourhood.

Built around a central park, the village's layout has been designed to provide a high level of amenities for residents, with streets, lanes and parking beautified by street gardens and pocket parks.

The pick of the crop

Landscape Architect Helen Mellsop has taken her cue for the planting palette from the historic use of the site for horticulture and orchards and from the native bush of the foothills of the nearby Waitakere Ranges.

Blossoming fruit trees add colour throughout, as well as fresh seasonal fruit in the community orchard for residents to pick, and roadside rain gardens will be planted with native species endemic to the ecosystem of the surrounding Oratia Stream Valley.

The exteriors of these homes will make a striking first impression, framed by specimen trees and natives. Fully-fenced yards will feature a patio for al fresco entertaining surrounded by lawn and low-maintenance planting, as well as trees to add to your privacy.

People-friendly streets

The landscaping of the streets and lanes within Selo will encourage an environment that is welcoming for pedestrians and cyclists.

Strategically-placed gardens, including environmentally-friendly rain gardens to naturally treat stormwater, high-quality street furniture and varied pavement materials combine to create a practical, yet visually pleasing, streetscape.
