The level site presents the perfect canvas for this high-end development, with a notable history as the original Brown family homestead, the first house built in Browns Bay in 1876. This humble dwelling, constructed of native Kauri weatherboards, is echoed in the choice of materials for its new incarnation. A modern, yet beachy and relaxed, construction palette sees natural timber used widely throughout the building, bringing warmth and complimenting the coastal atmosphere. This is enhanced with striking black metal, metallic bronze columns and concrete, creating one of the area’s most captivating and recognisable buildings.
The building rises five floors above its ground floor retail spaces, with a mix of one, two and three bedroom apartments and five luxury penthouses. On-site parking is located behind the retail units at street level, along with secure bike storage.
Inside, generous 2.6m ceilings and full-height glazing to the north, east and west ensures the homes feel light, spacious and open, with panoramic views of the ocean from large decks and courtyards. All apartments feature engineered oak flooring through living spaces, with beautiful carpets in the bedrooms. Spacious kitchens are an elegant, relaxed focal point, with engineered solid surface benchtops and Fisher & Paykel appliances, with the same aesthetic reflected in the bathrooms.
Planting throughout the building has been carefully considered and includes a lattice of winding vines strung through the rear courtyard, creating a lush green outlook from behind the apartments.
